Finding a passion...

positive.gif Having different interests and hobbies whilst searching for a job, training, or further education, means that you'll have something to do to give you a break and take your mind off of searching!

positive.gif It also gives you something else that can give you a sense of achievement, so if you experience rejections or find it difficult, it isn't the be all and end all of your day!

If you've not yet found a passion, here a few ideas for things you can get involved with...

  • Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to get out and about whilst helping others. It can give you a good feeling of satisfaction knowing you've used your free time to help out other people or your community!

volunteer.gif You can volunteer for a wide range of activites, from helping with local charity events, to working in a shop. (These are also fantastic experiences and skills to add to your CV!)

volunteer.gif If you are interested in getting involved in volunteering projects then have a look at the information and opportunities in the Volunteering Mall.

  • Art, Design, and Photography

Getting creative and making things can be really calming - this could be anything from painting, sewing, ceramics or knitting. It can really help you relax and focus on something different after a day of job hunting!

Here are some places you can start looking for creative courses or clubs...

  • Cookery & Baking

After the popularity of Masterchef and the Great British Bake off, lots of people are getting into cooking and baking...

cake.gif It can be an expensive hobby if you start making lots, but if you get good at it your friends and family will be able to enjoy your treats!

cake.gif You can check Bracknell Forest Council's Community Learning courses for all sorts of cookery classes, or the Cake Decorating Shop in Bracknell currently offer Cake Decorating courses!

  • Learn a Language

Learning a language is a skill which can be brilliant for future holidays as well as helping you in a job!

globe.gif Learning a new language will help keep your brain active whilst having fun, as well as having a skill to show at the end of it!

You can also learn a language online:

    • Duolingo - Learn languages online in a fun interactive way.
    • Babbel - Learn a language via short lessons and every-day, real life conversations.

globe.gif Bracknell and Wokingham College offers a wide range of courses - including Sign Language - so if you're interested in learning with a qualification at the end, check out their courses.
